and it runs with no problems...
the only thing i dislike is that you have the adds at the bottom and the ads onthe convo...
but he did use the messs patch for some things

Well not exactly, the logo is there, but no ads will load, that was removed, I prefer to keep the branding is all, and there are no ads on the conversation window, that too was removed, the space is still there, that's by design with the latest mess patch because there was a problem associated with it, and the premium featues and other ads were also removed, as well as the get a web cam advertisement, so there's no ads I assure you.

Well if you mean the windows live messenger logo in the main window, then yes it's there, but no advertisements will load, the logo will always remain there as a static image, I made the custom edit myself, I like the main add removal feature of mess patch, but I prefer to keep the logo branding, logo != advertisement, the advertisement is what loads and replaces the logo which isn't there, though removing the space in the convo window I never really notice it, but now that you mention it, that's easy to change.

Press run type > regedit and then locate this key

opposite of "DisallowRun" probably you will see the name of the application and its curent location just right click on that entry and hit delete press F5 in registry then close it. Open your application it must run.

Updating it was really no problem, however I wanted to address some of the issues some people were having with it first.
The first being that sometimes you couldn't sign in, or that the contact list might be empty, which means the original wlm would have the same problem, since wlm lite shares the cache with the original wlm, if it was corrupted, so would wlm lite's cache, and the second case, wlm caches files to disk as you sign in, download emoticons, and display pictures, and so on, wlm must have permission to write files to certain folders in the current user profile, wlm lite is no different, and so if you were running it on a computer that did not allow the writing of these files, wlm lite of course would not work, I have since modified the environment variables available to wlm, so it no longer writes any cache files in the user's profile directory, all cache files are now written to a subdirectory off of where wlm lite is stored, so this will eliminate the problems from before, wlm lite will operate perfectly even if the original wlm installed on the same system has a corrupted cache since they are entirely separate, to clear wlm lite's cache, delete the temp subdirectory where wlm lite is stored, and assuming it's on a flash drive, you take it with you, so nothing is written ever to the host system's disk, which is much more stealth.
The second being that people wanted to carry not only wlm lite with them, but have the settings for the application go with them on their flash drive, wlm lite now stores the settings in wlmlite.reg, it is completely independent of any wlm installed on the system, and will not read, write, or modify anything to do with wlm, and the settings stay in wlmlite.reg, they are read upon program start, and written back on program exit, with no leftover footprint in the registry, or conflict with any other version of wlm or msn that may be present, again making wlm lite even more stealth.
The only feature I wish I could implement, to make it totally stealth, and indepedent of the host, is a way in which to store, and carry the username and password list independent of the host system, though since wlm uses the windows credential manager, which is entirely not portable, it would be very difficult changing this, the only way I can see is to create a dll and inject it into wlm lite, and have it hook the api calls to the credential manager, and have it write and read the data into a file, which would take quite a while to complete, so I'm probably just going to release it as it is for now, just don't save username and passwords on systems you're not supposed to be running wlm on.

Wow, thank you for your reply!! The new stealth innovations sounds great at all!! I really hate all weird directory that WLM left on the host system, if also this problem is solved the program will be really perfect! Anyway for now I have no such problem with it, it work perfectly in ever computer I've tested before . Anyway if u can release a 8.1 standard version (without stealth system) for now will be great too, and u can have other time for work in one much more secure version .

mainly the only difference is the "stealth" version does not share settings\cache with the installed host version, it's stored separately, in a portable form, removed from the host system, though I can release both versions, whether msgshit wants to host both versions is up to them though

there are still some minor issues, but for the most part it seems to be working okay wlmliter5.zip[15.8 mb]
also, it now supports other languages, so if you provide an alternate language resource dll in the same folder, it'll load that instead of the internal english verion, for convenience you can get the other languages here [2.0 mb]

I have one question, what's that ppcrlconfig.dll file that's being created on the C:\ drive doing? It was not created in the previous version of wlm lite.

it's hard to account for all the junk files it puts everywhere, I didn't catch that, or the sqm files it dumps in the strangest places, however I have another build with a newer version of thinstall which runs everything in kind of a sandbox, so nothing gets out onto the drive, or into the registry, it works much better, and all the bugs with the previous version have been fixed, the only reason I haven't released it is because it will not work on vista at all, and I get the strangest behaviour, I've made some progress but it's extremely crash prone, and unstable, and sometimes it just won't recreate directories in the sandbox folder, yet it works perfectly in xp, I guess I could release it, it's a much cleaner solution, since any junk msn throws out will not get out of the sandbox, that goes for files files and registry entries, just don't ask for vista support

Super MSN ! Now I can take it with me on my USB-stick.
But this version is still to heavy for my old PC. Have 2000 and XP on it, but very slow...
Maybe tweak it further ? Or make a MSN 7.0/7.5 Lite (Best MSN ever !) ?

hrm, interesting, it'd be nice to know what packer you're using, it's definetly not thinstall, and molebox does not work with msn 7.5 or wlm, yet it's true, no files are extracted to disk
anyways, it doesn't have ink support, it has no flash support, it has no sandbox, the settings are saved on the system in the local profile, and into the registry, and are not portable in any way, and junk files are dumped on the system just like the real versions, and in your wlm you're missing the vc++ 2005 runtimes, so you can only run it on systems which already have it installed, which in a public environment is not many, but it's a nice try though
I'd still recommend using the last version I linked to in my february post, it takes care of these problems, I'm still not quite sure why bface didn't update it on the actual page, anyway, shortly I'll be releasing a 7.5 lite version with everything from the 8.1 version, including plus support, and it's completely sandboxed, the new 8.1 version will also be completely sandboxed and portable as well, but it will not have plus support, unfortunately after discussing it with patchou, it seems to have some incompatibility issues in the virtual environment

Hi,
Yesterday, I found a permanent solution for the problem in MSN 7.X with the popup "A new version of MSN Messenger is available. Click here..."
Just follow these steps:
1) Download Resource Hacker (http://www.angusj.com/resourcehacker/)
2) Open msnmsgr.exe with ResHack.exe
3) Go to "Version Info => 1 => 1033"
4) Change these value (somewhere on line 20)
VALUE "ProductVersion", "7.5.0324"
into
VALUE "ProductVersion", "99.9.9999"
5) Save. Job done
Maybe this is usefull for the MSN Lite developers ?
Is there any new version yet, Novastar or Tigin ?

and when I press ok another message comes up:

How can I fix this problem?

Infact, "MSVCR80.dll" error is not specific for WLite appz. It seems to be a Visual C++ runtime file problem , so just update your windows runtime library files.

hey guys, i'm looking to find a way to intigrate Messenger plus! live in to to the WLM lite 8.5
so far i've used the builder to include the plus directory and also the msimg32.dll which pllus needs to hook in to WLM, but it just opens with the plus menu saying software not loaded
any ideas?
